While we still wait to hear an official announcement of the hiring of Chris Mitchell as Political Director of House Victory, the Florida Democratic Party has named Christian Ulvert its overall Political Director.
From a release:
“We are excited to bring someone of Christian’s talent on board,” said Florida Democratic Party Chairwoman Allison Tant. “Christian brings a deep knowledge of Florida politics and strong relationships with elected officials to the party’s operations. He will be a crucial member of our team as we build upon the gains of 2012 and work towards our number one priority: defeating Rick Scott.”
“I’m looking forward to continuing my work with the Florida Democratic Party of electing Democrats throughout the state,” said Florida Democratic Party Political Director Christian Ulvert. “Floridians want leaders who will fight for middle class families and protect public education — I will be working every day to elect candidates who share those values.”
Ulvert has served on and managed several successful campaigns across the state, ranging from municipal, state legislative, issue advocacy and statewide campaigns. Most recently he served as the general consultant to House Victory. Prior to his work on state House races, Ulvert served as the campaign manager for the Dan Gelber for Attorney General campaign where he managed a staff of ten and a budget of over $5 million.
Is this an insurance policy for the party against the possibility of Rep. Darryl Rouson (and his consultant Barry Edwards) going too far off the reservation with the House Victory operation? Perhaps.
Another interesting question is how Ulvert will connect with the the expected campaign of Charlie Crist.
