Florida GOP raised over $20 million in 2013

The amount of money the Florida GOP raised in 2013 — a so-called off-year because there were no major elections held during it — is more than what most state parties raise during lucrative presidential years.

According to campaign finance reports filed on Friday, the Republican Party of Florida closed the year having raised approximately $20.3 million. It wasn’t so long ago when twenty million would be how much the RPOF would raise over an entire two-year cycle.

Pushing the Florida GOP over the twenty million dollar mark for the year was a strong fourth quarter during which the Republicans raised nearly $6.3 during the final three months of 2013.

The RPOF’s 4Q haul was almost six times what its rivals at the Florida Democratic Party raised. The FDP reported raising $1.046 million, putting the Dems at $4.6 million for the year.
