Fox News reports that the FBI’sĀ investigation intoĀ Hillary Clinton’s use ofĀ private email as secretary of state has expanded to look at whether the possible ā€œintersectionā€ of Clinton Foundation work and State Department business may have violated public corruption laws.

The bureau has been looking into whether classified material was mishandled during Clinton’s tenure at the State Department from 2009-2013. Citing three unidentified intelligence officials, Fox reports that the probe will now examine possible overlap of the Clinton Foundation charity with State Department business.

The Republican Party of Florida issued a statement Monday afternoon regarding the latest developments.

ā€œHillary Clinton had to spend 2015 attempting to dodge questions and rebrand herself,” said RPOF Communications DirectorĀ Wadi Gaitan. “With the FBI’s decision to expand their investigation into her private email server it looks like 2016 will bring more bad news for the scandal-plagued campaign and new reasons for voters to distrust Hillary Clinton.ā€

On CBS’ “Face the Nation Sunday,” ClintonĀ saidĀ that there was “no there, there” regarding her email practices while in the State Department.

The report comes the day after a new poll shows thatĀ Bernie Sanders, Clinton’s main competitor for the Democratic nomination for president, rising in the polls in Iowa, where the first caucus of the year takes place in three weeks.

A Wall Street Journal/NBC News/Marist pollĀ released over the weekend shows Clinton with a 48 percent to 45 percent lead over theĀ Vermont senator among likely Democratic caucusgoers in Iowa. The same poll shows Sanders with a slender, 50 percent to 46 percent lead over Clinton in New Hampshire, where he has consistently led for months.
