The political group behind the Florida Medical Association is endorsing state Rep. Kathleen Peters in her bid for re-election to House District 69.
FMA PAC today announced its support of the freshman Republican from South Pasadena, who faces Democratic attorney Scott Orsini in the race for the district covering areas including Madeira Beach, Treasure Island, Gulfport and St. Pete Beach.
“Representative Kathleen Peters is a friend of medicine and we are proud to endorse her re-election efforts,” said FMA PAC President Ralph Nobo. “Her constituents are well represented through her community activism and leadership abilities.”
Peters is a former South Pasadena City Commissioner (2008) and Mayor (2009-2012) and first elected to the Florida House in 2012.
As a member Florida House Healthy Families Subcommittee, Peters responded by saying she was honored to receive the endorsement from “an advocacy group serving as the voice for physicians, patients and the overall health of the citizens.”
Established in 1974, FMA PAC chooses statewide candidates who support Florida as the best state to practice medicine. Using voluntary contributions from more than 20,000 healthcare professionals it represents, FMA researches, selects and supports election of candidates who will advocate the state’s medical profession. FMA, as Florida’s leading medical PAC, raised over $1,000,000 by the end of 2013.
