Cyber Monday is off to a fast start with some sites showing huge sales and traffic spikes, despite all of the busy online shopping days that preceded it.
Bah humbug to all of that, says Florida TaxWatch.
“Florida TaxWatch would like to remind all Florida shoppers that while out-of-state retailers do not collect this tax on behalf of the state, Florida law still imposes the tax on such purchases and it’s the responsibility of the consumer to pay it,” said Dominic Calabro, president of Florida TaxWatch. “Unfortunately, countless Florida employers are operating at a significant disadvantage because of out of state companies benefiting from this tax evasion, and we encourage the Legislature to remedy this imbalance during the upcoming Legislative Session, and use the proceeds from proper collection to offset another tax that is currently imposed on Florida businesses and consumers.”
Ebeneezer Scrooge could not have said it any better himself.
