New unemployment numbers that could help Gov. Rick Scott are due out.
Scott is scheduled to announce the June jobless rate on Friday. That’s a sign that the news is likely to be better than it was last month.
The unemployment rate in May rose to 6.3 percent, and the state lost nearly 18,000 jobs. It was the worst job loss in the nation.
Payroll provider ADP reported last week that the state added 22,620 private sector jobs during June. ADP’s survey is separate from the one conducted by government agencies.
Scott campaigned on a pledge to add 700,000 jobs above normal growth.
But the unemployment rate has largely remained flat this year as the recovery has prompted people to start looking for work.
