Florida Medical Association PAC (FMA PAC) — the political arm of more than 20,000 physicians statewide — is endorsing candidate Mike Miller in his bid for House District 47.

Miller, who serves as Director of Marketing and Corporate Sponsorship for Athletics for Rollins College, is running against fellow Republican Mo Pearson in the Aug. 26 GOP primary. The winner faces incumbent Democratic state Rep. Linda Stewart for the district covering parts of Orange County.

“As a candidate with a strong business background, Mike Miller understands that business owners, just like physicians, often run into barriers with government red tape,” said FMA PAC President Ralph Nobo. “We are proud to stand with Mike and believe he will be a defender of The Florida Medical Association and the Sunshine State’s many physicians and patients.”

In response, Miller said, “Physicians are on the front line of health care for our state and they know Obamacare is not the direction we need to go. I look forward to working with them on free market solutions for Florida.”

Miller is a former staffer in the office of U.S. Sen. Connie Mack III. After turning a small juice business into a $60 million company, he then started Advocacy Consulting in Winter Park

Established in 1974, FMA PAC helps state office candidates who support Florida as the best state to practice medicine. Using voluntary contributions from healthcare professionals, FMA researches, selects and supports election of candidates who will advocate for the medical profession. FMA, as Florida’s No. 1 medical PAC, raised over $1,000,000 by the end of 2013.
