Former state Representative Steve Precourt has rejected the month-to-month contract offered by the Orlando-Orange County Expressway Authority.
Precourt said he did not agree with the change in terms established by the board Wednesday.
The board voted 3-2 in favor of giving former Rep. Steve Precourt the contract this week. Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs voted against it.
The hiring is controversial because State Attorney Jeff Ashton has urged the agency to hold off on the hire while his office investigates.
Ashton says he is still investigating whether board members may have violated Sunshine laws during the process of finding a new director.
The agency, which collects more than $300 million in tolls every year, will continue to be run by Deputy Director Joe Berenis.
