Former Orange Co. Commish Linda Stewart announces campaign for House District 47

Former Orange County Commissioner Linda Stewart today announced her campaign to represent District 47 in the Florida House of Representatives. Stewart, who was joined at the news conference by Orlando area Representatives Scott Randolph and Darren Soto, held the announcement outside the Church Street Sun Rail Station — highlighting one of her signature accomplishments as Commissioner and emphasizing her proven track record of implementing commonsense solutions to grow the economy and help businesses create jobs.

“Tallahassee is broken, and the people of this district deserve a leader with the real-world, experience needed to create good paying jobs, improve our schools and grow our local economy” said Linda Stewart. “On the County Commission, I worked with Republicans and Democrats to ensure that we delivered high quality services to the residents of Orange County, from recycling to road repair — and just as importantly, I worked hard to make sure we did it without raising taxes. It’s this commitment to commonsense solutions which is missing from Tallahassee, and it’s this commitment to public service which I’m going to bring back to state government.”

“On every issue that matters to Florida’s families, Republicans like Rick Scott have moved our state in the wrong direction,” said Representative Scott Randolph. “We need leaders like Linda with real world experience who will stand up to Tea Party extremism and implement commonsense solutions that help middle class families. I’m proud to endorse Linda Stewart and would urge every resident of Orlando and Orange County who cares about the future of our state to join her campaign.”

Polling from Hamilton Campaigns indicates that voters in the district have a favorable image of Linda Stewart and she currently has a commanding lead in the race. A recent survey shows Stewart with a 14-percent lead against likely Republican candidate Bob Brooks, and Stewart has a 16-percent lead among independents. Please click here to download Hamilton Campaign’s FL-47 Polling Memo
