Former Ormond Beach Mayor Dave Hood plans to run for a Volusia County House seat that is being vacated by congressional candidate Fred Costello, The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports. Hood, a Republican, will run in a newly reconfigured District 25, which is largely a coastal district. Also, former DeLand City Commissioner Maureen France announced Tuesday she would drop out of the race. France said in a message posted on her campaign website that she would “wholeheartedly” support Hood, describing him as a “longtime friend.” No Democrats have filed papers to run in the district.
