Former State Representative Randy Johnson, who made a name for himself in the Legislature during the last decade for his outspokenness on insurance issues and his opposition to expanded gambling in South Florida, is seeking a return to the Florida House.

At a fundraiser in St. Petersburg for legislative candidate Dane Eagle, Johnson said he has already filed to run for the “new District 55” seat, which is essentially the seat currently held by the term-limited Denise Grimsley.

In 2006, Johnson lost his campaign for Chief Financial Officer.  Previous to that, Johnson led the Florida House’s efforts to pass new growth management laws during this year’s legislative session and was president of No Casinos, which opposed slot machines in South Florida.
