Former Florida House Republican Majority Leader Steve Precourt is the new chief executive officer at Jacksonville-based civil engineering firm Ghyabi & Associates, reports Fatima Hussein of the Daytona Beach News-Journal.
Precourt, who is now a partner at the transportation services firm, served seven years in the Florida State legislature, sitting as chair of the House finance and tax committee.
He resigned from the House in January, and recently left as executive director of the Orlando-Orange County Expressway Authority over a employment agreement dispute.
“I’m extremely excited about this opportunity to join with one of Central and North Florida’s leading up and coming engineering firms,” Precourt said in a statement released Monday.
With over 20 years of experience in transportation engineering, Precourt was a key partner of the Central Florida engineering firm Dyer, Riddle, Mills & Precourt between 1996 and 2008.
Precourt replaces CEO Maryam Ghyabi, who founded the company in Ormond Beach. Ghyabi will remain as both principal owner and board chair, writes Hussein.
Last month, the firm opened an Orlando office after closing a Lake Mary location.
