Foster announces “828 Alliance” to heal city after August vote on ‘The Lens’

Mayor Bill Foster seems to genuinely want to unite the city after the contentious—and deeply divisive— issue better known as The Lens. Few subjects have caused a bigger rift in St. Petersburg, both between residents and politically.

Tomorrow, Foster will be discussing details of a new “828 Alliance” task force, which will examine how to reconcile the community after the Aug. 27 Pier vote. At issue will be ways for the city to move forward after the public has their say, with either the proposed Lens concept or a “new process” to figure out just what to do with the iconic inverted pyramid.

Foster will be addressing the media on the “828 Alliance” June 26, at 10 a.m. in Room 200 of City Hall, 175 Fifth St. N.
