Fundraising in the three-way race to replace outgoing Tampa City Council member Charlie Miranda continues to grow well over $100,00 with Jackie Toledo leading the way with more than $67,000 raked in as of the end of October.
Toledo faces Thomas Clark Castellano and Guido Maniscalco. Castellano owns an air conditioning company and Maniscalco is a vintage watch retailer.
Toledo is a 25-year Tampa resident originally from Peru. She works as a civil engineer and runs a performing arts school for kids called Tampa Creative Camp. Toledo has also served on the Mayor’s Hispanic Advisory Committee since 2009.
Toledo raised $6,715 during October. Galloway Chiropractic & Sports and GCIC clinic on Kennedy Boulevard kicked in $1,000 each for her campaign while Toledo footed the $750 bill for her office rent and several other individuals and businesses made smaller contributions. TECO and Nue Urban Concepts, publisher Richard Mandt, ASG Consulting Group and realtor Teresa Williams all wrote checks for $500 for Toledo.
Toledo spent $1,324 during the latest reporting cycle. Those funds were spent on a combination of stamps, supplies, meals and fees.
Castellano is Toledo’s closest fundraising competition with $25,490 in contributions so far. He brought in $1,355 during October including two $300 contributions from insurance administrator Dina Caccamo and retired Tampa resident Terry Leach. Castellano paid his own $500 office rent.
Castellano dropped nearly $4,000 in October – most of it on campaign materials from Good Guy Signs.
Guido Maniscalco didn’t raise any funds during October. His total fundraising is $21,419 with his most productive month being February when he brought in more than $5,000. Maniscalco has spent nearly $6,000 of his campaign cash already. His biggest spending came in April when his campaign funded a kickoff party and consulting services.
