Gabrielle Giffords gun-control group gives $100K to Charlie Crist

Americans for Responsible Solutions, the gun-control group founded by former Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, gave $100,000 this week to “Charlie Crist for Florida,” the political committee supporting the Democratic candidate.

In January 2011, Giffords was shot at district meet-and-greet. She retired from Congress a year later.

Giffords and her husband Mark Kelly founded Americans for Responsible Solutions to call for changes in the country’s gun laws.

On Tuesday, the group sent $100,000 to the Crist committee, which raised nearly $30 million, according to new financial reports.

At the same time, Republican Gov. Rick Scott received a variety of support from the National Rifle Association, including a radio as from NRA past President Marion Hammer.

Hammer is now a powerful Tallahassee gun-rights lobbyist.
