George LeMieux today won the East Manatee Republican Club straw poll with 60 percent of the vote. The poll was held after a debate of the US Senate Primary candidates and follows LeMieux winning statewide straw polls from the Florida Federation of Republican Women and Tea Party leaders.

“I want to thank the East Manatee Republican Club for hosting the debate and straw poll,” said George LeMieux. “The grassroots support I’ve received from people across Florida is overwhelming. Our campaign is gaining huge momentum, with Republican activists continuously joining our team to ensure the right Republican secures the nomination. Together, we can take on Bill Nelson in November and bring fiscal sanity back to Washington.”

The straw poll results are as follows:

George LeMieux:  60 percent

Mike McCalister: 34 percent

Connie Mack: 6 percent

Connie Mack originally accepted the invitation to the event but later backed out. This is the third consecutive straw poll that Mack the Fourth came in dead last.
