Get your checkbooks ready, PAC chairs and Tallahassee uber-lobbyists, there are nearly a dozen fundraisers for legislative candidates planned for next week, the first committee week in advance of the 2014 legislative session.
The week begins with a fundraising reception benefiting the re-election campaigns of Reps. Jason Brodeur and Ritch Workman. Join them on Monday, September 23, from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. at the Governors Club Board Room.
Also on Monday, there is a reception for Chairmen Janet Adkins, Charles McBurney, Lake Ray, Ronald “Doc” Renuart and Charles Van Zant and Representative Elizabeth Porter at 4:30 – 6:00 p.m. at the Governors Club’s Capital Room. There is a reception for Representatives Manny Diaz Jr., Dane Eagle, David Hood, Mike La Rosa and Ray Rodrigues from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. at the Governors Club’ Library Room.
A late add to Monday’s schedule: Chris Latvala’s supporters will celebrate his House District 67 campaign with a reception that includes some of Central Florida’s most prominent lawmakers. Florida Dental Association Governmental Affairs office, 118 East Jefferson Street. The event begins at 5:30 p.m.
On Tuesday, the Florida Realtors are hosting Sen. Wilton Simpson for an event beginning at 5:00 p.m.
Also on Tuesday, A long list of Republican lawmakers, consultants and lobbyists will celebrate ten North Florida GOP legislators. The reception will be in the main dining room of the Governor’s Club in Tallahassee. The party will begin with a VIP reception from 5-5:30 p.m., and a general gathering immediately afterwards.
The event will star a long list of GOP luminaries, headlined by Speaker Designate Steve Crisafulli, committee chairs Richard Corcoran and Jose Oliva, as well as Florida Crystals, Southern Strategy Group and several others.
Also on Tuesday, House Republican leadership is coming together for a reception to benefit the campaigns of Eric Eisnaugle, Scott Plakon, and Chris Sprowls. Eisnaugle and Plakon, both former legislators, are hoping to regain seats in the Florida House. Eisnaugle sat out of the 2012 election and Plakon was narrowly defeated.
Join the three hopefuls, along with Speaker Designate Crisafulli, Chairman Corcoran, and Rep. Oliva from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Governors Club’s private dining room.
Rep. David Santiago has an event planned from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Governors Inn, Tallahassee Room.
Steve Crisafulli will not be the second Speaker Designate in recent years to not make it to the esteemed House post — at least not if Chris and Kellie Kraft have any say in it. The couple is hosting a fundraiser to benefit Crisafulli’s re-election campaign on Wednesday, Sept. 25, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at 3571 Mossy Creek Lane in Tallahassee. Also on Wednesday, there a fundraiser benefiting the reelection campaigns of Reps. Michael Bileca, Jose Felix Diaz, and Carlos Trujillo. Join them on Wednesday, Sept. 25, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Highpoint Center, 14th Floor.
Representatives Heather Fitzenhagen, MaryLynn Magar, Kathleen Peters, and Holly Raschein are rising leaders within the Florida House. Join Speaker Designate Crisafulli, and Chairmen Corcoran and Oliva for a fundraising reception to benefit their respective re-election campaigns from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. at the Governors Club BC Room.
The Florida GOP has also added a luncheon reception for HD 36 candidate Bill Gunter beginning at noon at the Governors Club’s Plantation Room.
For the end of the week, The Republican Party of Florida invites supporters (and donors) to a fundraising reception in Boston on September 28.
Speaker Designate Crisafulli and future Speakers Corcoran and Oliva are hosts of the event at the Florida State Seminoles away game, when they will face the Boston College Eagles at Alumni Stadium.
