Get your checkbooks ready for a slew of legislative fundraisers this week

Get your checkbooks ready, PAC chairs and Tallahassee uber-lobbyists, there are several fundraisers for legislative candidates planned for this week. In fact, this upcoming week may be the single busiest week of the year, in terms of Tallahassee fundraisers for legislative candidates.

First up is a fundraiser in Tallahassee benefiting Representatives Matt Caldwell, Dane Eagle, Heather Fitzenhagen, and Ray Rodrigues. The event is being hosted by the Florida Retail Federation at their offices at 227 Adams Street. The event begins at 5:30 p.m.

In case you are in Panama City and wish to support Rep. Jimmy Patronis’ 2016 Senate campaign, he’s having an event at the Capt. Anderson restaurant beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Another Senate fundraiser is being held for Sen. Rene Garcia by the Beer Industry of Florida at 110 South Monroe Street, Suite B. The event begins at 5:30 p.m.

Also on Monday, there is a reception benefiting four freshmen ladies of the House – Heather Fitzenhagen, MaryLynn Magar, Kathleen Peters, and Holly Raschein. The event is slated for the Capitol Room of the Governor’s Club and begins at 5:00 p.m.

It will be a busy night on Adams Street on Tuesday as several incumbents have events planned.

The marquee draw may be the f’raiser for Speaker Designate Steve Crisafulli. I believe this is the first Tallahassee fundraiser for the man who will be Speaker in less than two years, so expect a crowd outside the Governor’s Club’s Capitol Room at 4:30 p.m.

 At the same time as Crisafulli’s fundraiser is one for Rep. Dennis Baxley. It’s also at the Governor’s Club at 4:30 p.m.

 Also on Tuesday, there is a fundraiser for Rep. Daniel Davis. The event is being hosted by the Florida Retail Federation at their offices at 227 Adams Street. The reception begins at 5:30 p.m.

Rep. Ken Roberson is getting into the fundraising action on Tuesday night with a reception in the Private Dining Room of the Governor’s Club. The event begins at 4:30 p.m.

Reps. Ritch Workman and John Tobia are also part of the Tuesday night line-up with an event in the Library Room of the Governor’s Club beginning at 4:30 p.m.

On the Senate side, the Florida Realtors are throwing a party for Senator Joe Negron. The invite for this event has one of the more interesting descriptions you’ll read: “We are setting up the ping pong tables and bringing in all your favorites from Chick-fil-A! Come join us for a friendly game and some great eats!!”

The highlight of Wednesday night is the fundraiser planned for Senator Jeff Brandes. It will be held in the Capital Room of the Governor’s Club and begins at 5:00 p.m. Get there early as Brandes, the chair of the Senate’s Transportation Committee, is sure to attract a bevy of well-healed lobbyists.

Nine State Representatives from the First Coast, including Janet Adkins, Daniel Davis, Charles McBurney, Lake Ray, Doc Renuart, Charles Van Zant, Travis Cummings, and Travis Hutson, are part of a Wednesday night fundraiser at the Governor’s Club beginning at 5:00 p.m.
