Go Davis is, um, on vacation. Riiiggghhhttt

After three days of not showing up for meetings, including a meeting scheduled for Wednesday with a member of the St. Petersburg City Council, the (un)official word from Deputy Mayor Tish Elston is that Go Davis is on vacation. At least that is what she told a television reporter yesterday.

Of course, Ms. Elston did not return my call.  Maybe because she’s tired of making excuses for Davis’ erratic behavior.

Because what I don’t understand is how nobody knew where Davis was on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, but today, suddenly everyone remembers that he was on vacation.

I called Davis’ office several times today and was told each time that, yes, Davis was in City Hall, but no he was not at his desk.  Then I would ask Davis’ secretary if she had actually seen Davis and she said she couldn’t answer.

So I then asked if she had seen him at all this week, to which she did not respond.  I followed up by saying that Tish Elston says Goliath is on vacation, to which Goliath’s secretary said she would have to defer to Ms. Elston.

Again, no one — not Elston, not Dave Metz, not Gary Bush, no one in the Police Department, no one above or below Davis knew he was on vacation.

So I have put in a public information request for any communication between Elston and Davis showing where Davis requested to go on vacation.
