On Google, the USA Today has a ‘Dewey Beats Truman’ moment declaring Charlie Crist winner over Rick Scott

It was not as widely seen as the famous ‘Dewey Beats Truman’ headline, but a search result on Google returned a link to a USA Today story declaring that Democrat Charlie Crist beat Republican Rick Scott.

“Crist pulls out tough win in Florida governor’s race,” read the headline posted around 10:30 p.m. You can see a screenshot of the search result to the right.

As everyone in Florida politics knows by now, that was not the case. The text in the body of the story got it right – Scott beating Crist – but the headline is probably what most focused on.
