Florida House District 67 GOP hopeful Chris Latvala received the endorsement on Thursday from state Rep. Kathleen Peters.
Latvala seeks to replace term-limited Rep. Ed Hooper for the district covering sections of Clearwater, Largo and Pinellas Park. Peters is the freshman Republican from South Pasadena and represents the beach areas of Pinellas County, including Madeira Beach, Treasure Island, Gulfport and St. Pete Beach.
“Chris Latvala will make the voters of House District 67 proud. He has the pedigree, experience, and drive to be a strong and effective leader for his constituents,โ said Peters. โI am honored to endorse him and I look forward to serving with him.”
Latvala, son of longtime Pinellas County state Sen. Jack Latvala, served in the 2014 class of Leadership Pinellas, in addition to being a board member of the PACE Center for Girls, a member of the Citizen Advisory Committee of the Pinellas MPO. He also sits on the Government Advocacy Committee for Ruth Eckerd Hall, and is a member of the Community Relations Committee for New Life Solutions.
“Pinellas County is lucky to have Rep. Kathleen Peters in the Florida House,โ Latvala said. โShe is a great friend and leader and I am honored to have her on my team.โ
In supporting Chris Latvala, Peters joins other local GOP leaders such as Hooper, Pinellas Republican Executive Committee vice chair Nick DiCeglie, Sheriff Bob Gualtieri, Rep. Larry Ahern, Largo City Commissioner Jamie Robinson and Curtis Holmes, Clearwater City Vice-mayor Doreen Hock-Dipolito, Council members Hoyt Hamilton and former member Paul Gibson, as well as former Pinellas County School Board Member Glen Gilzean. He also has the backing of the Fraternal Order of Police and Florida Professional Firefighters.
