Gov. Scott names Dr. Jorge J. Lopez, reappoints Brigitte Goersch to Board of Medicine

oday, Governor Rick Scott announced the appointment of Dr. Jorge J. Lopez and the reappointment of Brigitte R. Goersch to the Board of Medicine. 

Lopez, 57, of Orlando, is a staff physician for and president of Florida Emergency Physicians. He served in the United States Air Force from 1989 to 1997. Lopez received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Puerto Rico and his Doctor of Medicine from Autonomous Metropolitan University in Mexico City.

Lopez succeeds Dr. Fred Bearison and is appointed for a term beginning March 5, 2014, and ending October 31, 2017. 

Goersch, 49, of Satellite Beach, is the president of Lionheart Enterprises. Previously, she served as a pilot in the United States Air Force from 1985 to 2008.

Goersch received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Tampa and her Master’s of Aeronautical Science from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. She is reappointed for a term beginning March 5, 2014, and ending October 31, 2017. 

The appointments are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
