Citing their diligent service and acknowledging they have not received cost of living raises in five years, Gov. Rick Scott on Friday gave state employees an extra day off with pay as he ordered state buildings to be closed Friday, Dec. 23, reports the News Service of Florida. “This year has been yet another extremely difficult period for many Floridians, including state employees who diligently serve the State of Florida,” Scott said in a statement. The governor ordered the Department of Management Services to close all state executive buildings the Friday before Christmas. The Florida Supreme Court is also taking the day off.
