Today, Governor Rick Scott announced the appointment of Sam Verghese as secretary of the Department of Elder Affairs.
Verghese served as External Affairs Director for Gov. Scott in 2014. Prior to that, Verghese served as the Chief of Staff for the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation and as Staff Director for the Majority Office of the Florida House of Representatives.
“Today, I am happy to appoint Sam Verghese as Secretary of Elder Affairs. Sam did a great job serving as External Affairs Director in my office and was an effective leader at the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation,” Gov. Scott. “Sam cares deeply about making our state a better place for all Floridians and I know he will be a great advocate for the elderly. I am thankful for Chuck Corley’s service to Florida families. He has faithfully served the elderly in our state each and every day during our first term in office.”
Verghese said, “It is an honor to have the opportunity to serve Floridians. I look forward to furthering the department’s goal to enable all Floridians to age with dignity, purpose and independence.”
