Gov. Scott signs three bills into law

Lake Sumer Community College will now be known as Lake Sumter State College under a bill (HB 209) signed into law Wednesday by Governor Rick Scott. Scott also signed a bill (HB 7017) repealing fixed terms of court, which are an old concept left over from the days when circuit judges or Supreme Court justices went to the town where their court was meeting for a specified term. Scott also signed a bill (HB 179) allowing certain interest on deposits collected in eminent domain proceedings t go to property owners rather than the government.
