Gov. Scott to unveil his legislative priorities in September

Gov. Rick Scott may have just gotten through his first-ever legislative session but he is already getting geared up for his next one, writes Gary Fineout.

Scott — as well as top aides — said on Monday that the governor plans to roll out his 2012 legislative agenda as early as Sept. 1.

This is when the Republican governor will likely unveil proposals dealing with such topics as energy and insurance. Scott has also said recently that he would look to lawmakers to also reconsider passing an immigration measure.  A divided Legislature was unable to pass an immigration bill during this past session.

Scott, during an hour-long session with reporters, did not go into great detail about what he plans on proposing. But the governor did acknowledge that he is considering recommending changes to the state’s no-fault auto insurance law which he called a “real problem.”
