Senate President Mike Haridopolos said on Monday that he won’t be able to increase reimbursement rates for doctors who treat Medicaid patients but that lawsuit limitations — another priority for Florida doctors — is on the top of his agenda, reports Christine Jordan Sexton.
“We can’t reimburse more, we don’t have the money,” Haridopolos said explaining why he will ask the Legislature to extend sovereign immunity protections for doctors who participate in the $20 billion program. Sovereign immunity caps limit lawsuit damages at $300,000 per incident.
