Haridopolos: Redistricting schedule may mean special session

The schedule set out for the courts to look at the redistricting plan passed by the Legislature may mean lawmakers will have to give the plan another look after the regular session has ended, if the courts don ‘t like it, Senate President Mike Haridopolos said via The News Service of Florida. Speaking with reporters late Tuesday, Haridopolos acknowledged that the Supreme Court’s plan to hear oral arguments on Feb. 29 leaves little time before the March 9 end of session to make revisions if the court objects to the Legislature’s plan. “I think we all recognize we’re probably going to have to come back,” if the Supreme Court rejects the Legislature’s plan, Haridopolos said.
