JAXBIZ — the political arm of the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce — is backing Paul Renner for the open District 15 seat in the Florida House of Representatives.
The District 15 seat, representing Jacksonville’s Westside, is being vacated by JAX Chamber President and CEO Daniel Davis, who is not seeking another term in the House.
The JAXBIZ board interviewed both candidates for the seat on Tuesday and overwhelmingly chose Renner, a local business attorney and former active duty and reserve officer in the U.S. Navy.
“Paul is the type of visionary leader the business community needs in Tallahassee,” said Mike Hightower, chair of the JAXBIZ board. “Paul’s experience as a military commander and his recent leadership in combat deployment is invaluable. And equally important, he knows what the community needs to grow jobs and improve the quality of life in Northeast Florida. Without a doubt, Paul Renner represents what we need to move the region and Florida forward.”
