HD 5 front runner Brad Drake breaks $231K mark in April

Florida House District 5 GOP front runner Brad Drake raised $2,400 in April for the seat containing part of Bay County, as well as Walton, Holmes, Jackson, and Washington Counties.

The former Republican House representative now has a total of $231,405, with more than $157,000 cash-on-hand, over $100,000 more than his nearest GOP opponent Jan Hooks.

Hooks raised $1,100 in April, for a total of $59,525, with $55,286 cash-on-hand. Libertarian Party of Florida candidate Karen Barbara Schoen raised $511 last month, making her total $2,466.

A Northwest Florida native, Drake served in the House from 2008 to 2012. After the 2012 redistricting, Drake’s seat merged with the district of Rep. Marti Coley of Marianna, whom he chose to support for re-election.

Drake was Rep. Don Brown’s legislative aide to before seeking Brown’s seat in 2008. He currently serves on the Northwest Florida State College Board of Directors.
