Florida health-care advocacy boosted the Johnson & Blanton lobbying house to more than $1.3 million in reported compensation for the third quarter of 2014.

Principals Travis Blanton and Jon Johnson, with Government Relations directors Amy Christian, Melanie Brown, and newly hired former Florida Department of Economic Opportunity chief of staff Darrick McGhee reported maximums fees of $849,956 in legislative and $469,956 in executive fees, totaling up to $1,319,912.

When combining the firm’s $2.73 million to date, Johnson & Blanton’s four heavyweight lobbyists have now brought in just over $4 million for 2014.

As a former chief of staff for the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA), Blanton was part of the team responsible for administering Florida’s $20 billion Medicaid program and regulation of health care facilities throughout the state.

With firm that concentrates on healthcare lobbying, there is little surprise that the largest on the list of 54 legislative and 54 executive clients include many of Florida’s hospital chains.

Topping the Johnson & Blanton list once again are Florida Hospital and the Florida Hospital Association, each with a maximum of $49,999 in Q3 legislative fees.

Next on the list are BayCare Health System, Inc.; Florida Engineering Society, pharmaceutical giant Pfizer, Inc. and Sacred Heart Health System, which also provided up to $29,999 apiece.

On the executive side, the biggest paydays were from Florida Society of Anesthesiologists, Hewlett Packard Company and loan management servicer Navient, each for a maximum of $19,999.
