Hernando County Sheriff Al Nienhuis is endorsing Republican Party of Florida vice chair Blaise Ingoglia for House District 35.
Ingoglia, a Spring Hill homebuilder and former tournament poker player, faces Democratic former county commissioner Rose Rocco for the seat covering much of Hernando County.
“I know Blaise to have a genuine concern for keeping Hernando County a safe place to live, work and play,” Nienhuis said, citing Ingoglia’s “commitment to our community’s first responders, as well as the men and women who work tirelessly to support those first responders behind the scenes.”
Nienhuis began his career in law enforcement as a Special Agent in the Florida Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco. He served in the Fort Myers District Office before leaving in 2001 become Undersheriff in the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office. Gov. Charlie Crist appointed him Hernando County Sheriff in December 2010.
“I am grateful and honored to have earned the support and endorsement of Hernando County Sheriff Nienhuis,” Ingoglia said. “He is a great man and a great community leader.”
