A prominent group of Pinellas County legislators and civic leaders — headlined by House Speaker Will Weatherford and many others — will gather Sept. 12 to celebrate Chris Sprowls as he kicks-off his campaign for House District 65.

The goal is to support Sprowls, an up-and-coming star of the Republican Party, in his push to unseat Democratic Rep. Carl “Z” Zimmermann in 2014.

The party begins Thursday, Sept. 12 at 6 p.m. in the Riverside Grille House Veranda, 10 Dodecanese Blvd in Tarpon Springs.

Supporters and well-wishers scheduled to appear at the event include:

  • Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri
  • State Attorney Bernie McCabe
  • Sen.  Jack Latvala
  • Sen.  Jeff Brandes
  • Sen. Mike Fasano
  • Sen. John Legg
  • Rep. Richard Corcoran, Chairman of Health & Human Services
  • Rep. Larry Ahern
  • Rep. James Grant
  • Rep. Ed Hooper
  • Rep. Kathleen Peters
  • Pinellas County Commissioner Susan Latvala
  • Pinellas County Clerk of the Court Ken Burke

In addition, the celebration will be hosted by the “65 for HD 65” committee, made up of 65 high profile political and business leaders from Pinellas County, including “Attorney to the Stars” Kevin Haslett and District 67 candidate Chris Latvala.

Sprowls, an Assistant State Attorney for Florida’s Sixth Judicial Circuit, special prosecutor in the Gang Unit of the state attorney’s office and one of Florida’s “30 under 30” rising political stars, has built a strong outpouring of support, from some of the most respected political and community leaders in west central Florida.

District 65 covers much of north Pinellas County including Tarpon Springs, Dunedin, Palm Harbor and East Lake.
