Hillsborough County state House members get their committee assignments

Florida Speaker of the House Richard Corcoran assigned committee assignments to all 80 members of the Florida House of Representatives on Monday. Listed below are the assignments from those lawmakers based in Hillsborough County:

Zephyrhills House District 38 Danny Burgess will chair the Insurance & Banking Subcommittee. He’ll also serve on the Local, Federal & Veterans Affairs Subcommittee; the Health Care Appropriations Subcommittee; the Judiciary Committee; the Commerce Committee and the Civil Justice and Claims Subcommittee.

Tampa House Minority Leader (District 62) Janet Cruz will serve on the Appropriations Committee; Joint Legislative Budget Commission and Tourism & Gaming Control Subcommittee.

Tampa House District 64 Republican Jamie Grant will serve on the Commerce Committee; Tourism and Gaming Control Subcommittee; Higher Education Appropriations Subcommittee;  Criminal Justice Subcommittee and Government Operations & Technology Appropriations Subcommittee.

North Tampa District 63 Republican Shawn Harrison will vice chair on two committees – the Health Innovation Subcommittee and Rules & Policy Committee. He’ll also serve on the Judiciary Committee; Civil Justice & Claims Subcommittee; the Careers & Competition Subcommittee and the Agriculture & Natural Resources Appropriations  Subcommittee.

St.Petersburg freshman Democrat Wengay Newton from House District 70 will serve on the Health Quality Subcommittee; the PreK-12 Appropriations Subcommittee; the Government Accountability Committee; The Transportation & Infrastructure Subcommittee and the Joint Select Committee on Collective Bargaining.

Valrico House District 57 Republican Jake Raburn will chair the PreK-12 Quality Subcommittee; vice chair the the PreK-Appropriations Subcommittee; serve on the Local, Federal & Veterans Affairs Subcommittee; Agriculture & Property Rights Subcommittee; The Education Committee and the Public Integrity & Ethics Committee.

Plant City House District 58 Republican Dan Raulerson will be the alternating chair on the Joint Legislative Auditing Committee; he’ll also serve on the Criminal Justice Subcommittee; the Government Operations & Technology Appropriations Subcommittee; the Government Accountability Committee; the Oversight, Transparency & Administration Subcommittee.

Dover House District 60 Republican Ross Spano will chair the House Criminal Justice Subcommittee, as well as Vice-Chair of the Judiciary Committee. He’ll also serve on the Justice Appropriations Subcommittee; the Children, Families, and Seniors Subcommittee; and the PreK-12 Innovation Subcommittee.

Just elected Tampa House District 61 Representative Sean Shaw will serve on the Government Operations & Technology Appropriations Subcommittee; the Civil Justice & Claims Subcommittee; the Commerce Committee; the Energy & Utilities Subcommittee and Insurance & Banking Subcommittee.

And just elected House District 60 Republican Jackie Toledo will serve on the Transportation & Infrastructure Subcommittee; Health Innovation Subcommittee; the Civil Justice & Claims Subcommittee; the Commerce Committee and the Energy & Utilities Subcommittee.

All of these lawmakers – as well as members of the Florida Senate from Hillsborough County, will be at the Tampa History Museum all day on Friday for the Hillsborough County Legislative Delegation Meeting, beginning at 9 a.m.
