There’s nothing like a strong showing right out of the gate.
Tampa attorney and small business owner Carl Hinson announced that his campaign raised more than $108,000 in his bid for judge of Hillsborough County Thirteenth Circuit Court, Group 8.
Hinson is running to replace Judge James D. Arnold, who ran unopposed in 2008 for the six-year term. Incumbents usually have an easy time in non-partisan judicial elections. Since only lawyers can run for the job, few want to anger judges before whom they could appear.
Hinson says he is “humbled” by the solid show of support, gaining more than 170 donors in the first quarter since his announcing his candidacy in April.
“Our finance team is made up of an incredible group of legal and business professionals, as well as community leaders throughout Hillsborough County,” Hinson said. “The job they are doing is incredible, and I’m so pleased to have them on board as supporters”.
The Hinson for Judge Campaign started well, with a kick-off event June 20 where the candidate hosted over 200 supporters at the Hotel Floridan in downtownTampa.
Hinson is a Tampa native who graduated from Hillsborough High School. He is the Past President of the Tampa Bay Trial Lawyers Association, as well as a member of the Florida Justice Association (FJA) and the St. Lawrence Church in Tampa. He lives in Tampa with his wife Yvette and their daughter Vanessa.
