The House budget plan this year will include a $1,400 across-the-board pay raise for state workers, their first pay bump since 2006.
Budget Chairman Seth McKeel said the raise would take effect Nov. 1. The Senate has proposed a 3 percent pay hike for state employees. Budgets in both the House and Senate are set for final committee votes next week.
House Speaker Will Weatherford and Budget Chairman Seth McKeel are scheduled to discuss the House spending plan Friday morning with reporters.
