Democrats say anew state-by-stateanalysis by Congress’s Joint Economic Committee — chaired by Democratic Sen.Bob Casey — shows that Floridians would seethe biggest increase in health care costs underthe Republican budget plan that Dems are targeting, reports Lesley Clark of the Miami Herald.

The analysis sayswhile the increase varies by state, residents in all states wouldsee their out-of-pocket expenses more than double when they turn 65 in 2022.Residents in Florida face the largest increase ?7,383.

“Our elderly Americans cannot afford to have their health care expenses double, but that? exactly what the Republican plan delivers,” Casey said.

Democrats have been hammering Republicans in Florida for voting for the Ryan plan, launching robocalls in at least three districts. Republicans note that a recent trustees report suggests that if nothing is done, the program will run out of money in 2024 — five years faster than an estimate a year ago.
