As lawmakers start preparing for the 2013 session, Senate committees are scheduled to hold four days of meetings next week, while House committees will meet Tuesday and Wednesday. A new Senate Gaming Committee and the Select Committee on the Patient Protection & Affordable Care Act are slated to meet at 3 p.m. Monday, according to the Senate schedule.

Meanwhile, both chambers’ appropriations committees are scheduled to meet Wednesday, with the Senate panel at 9 a.m. and its House counterpart at 1 p.m.

In the past, the first week of committee meetings has largely dealt with introductory issues, and bills are heard at meetings closer to the start of the legislative session. The 2013 session starts March 5 and is scheduled to end May 3.
