House Speaker Will Weatherford named to RLCC executive committee

The Republican Legislative Campaign Committee named Florida House Speaker Will Weatherford in its new class of executive committee members.

According to the Republican State Leadership Committee website, the RLCC is part of the largest caucus of Republican state leaders, and the only national organization dedicated to electing “down-ballot, state-level Republican officeholders.”

Since 2002, the RSLC has worked to elect candidates to a variety of state-level offices — lieutenant governor, attorney general, secretary of state and state legislators.

Weatherford’s selection makes him one of the rising stars of the GOP, and a likely candidate for future higher office.

The RLCC list of 17 Republican state legislators includes Pennsylvania House Speaker Sam Smith; Iowa House Speaker Kraig Paulsen; Michigan House Speaker Jase Bolger; Arkansas Senate President Pro Tem Michael Lamoureux and Texas House Speaker Joe Straus.
