How silly is this fundraiser for Connie Mack?

I understand that Connie Mack is the great grandson of baseball Hall-of-Famer Connie Mack, but sometimes the Republican US Senate candidate stretches a little too far attempting to connect to that history.

For example, I really don’t understand why a candidate for the US Senate has a baseball in their logo, but oh well, that’s Mack’s family history and he’s free to do what he wants to remind voters of it.

But this invitation to a fundraiser for Mack during the Republican National Convention is a reach.

Ann Romney will be the special guest at Mack’s “Evening at the Ballpark” fundraiser at the Hyatt Regency Tampa on Aug. 28th during RNC week.

Huh? Not to split hairs, but how is this an “Evening at the Ballpark”? This sounds more like an “Evening at the Hotel Bar.”
