Humana bringing 149 more jobs to St. Pete

Humana Cares, St. Petersburg’s division of Humana, Inc. health insurance company, announced that it intends to hire 149 additional employees for its St. Petersburg base. About three years ago, Humana Cares opened its doors in Tampa Bay with 200 staff, and with this addition, it will soon employ some 1,450 local employees.
These are not all entry-level, low-paying jobs opening, either. Of the 149 openings, 84 will be filled by registered nurses with a minimum of three years work experience. Other jobs the compnay will soon be recruiting for include additional care managers, social workers, community health educators, referral specialists and health coaches.
Health care giant Humana Inc. generated more than $33 billion in revenues in its 2010 fiscal year. The company’s stock  is up roughly 2% over the past year, just shy of its 52-week high of $96.46, at nearly $90 a share in early Tuesday trading.
