I don’t like Keith Fitzgerald’s campaign, but I respect his new spox, Matt Harringer

My dislike of Keith Fitzgerald’s campaign is matched only by my dislike of Jessica Ehrlich’s campaign.

That said, Fitzgerald’s relative new spokewsman, Matt Harringer, is doing a yeoman’s job in a difficult position. He sends smart, even witty, press releases, like the one today that mocks Vern Buchanan’s support by “.001 percent of his district’s registered Democrats.”

Harringer left his job as a legislative assistant to Senator Paula Dockery to work as communications director for Fitzgerald.

The Fitzgerald campaign ran into some hot water over partisan comments posted by their former spokesperson, Ana Maria Rosato, on her personal blog.

“Vern Buchanan’s constituents are fed up with partisan politics and their corrupt congressman,” Harringer said at the time of his hiring. “Keith Fitzgerald is the best candidate to represent all of the district’s voters, Republican or Democrat. And I’ll be working hard to share that message.
