Chris Sprowls, Republican candidate for House District 65, is out-raising Democrat incumbent Carl Zimmermann, and not just by a little bit. In the second quarter, which ended June 30, Sprowls tallied contributions at $16,786, with donations from 56 individual entities.  This brings Sprowls’ total amount raised to $28,846.  Comparatively, Zimmermann raised $4,660 from 10 entities in the second quarter, bringing his total to $14,150.

Just 11 percent of Sprowls’ second quarter donors are from Tallahassee with the remaining from around the Bay Area.  Tallahassee donors include Paul Mitchell of Southern Strategies, the RPPTL PAC, Florida Conservative Leadership Fund, Agents for a Better Florida, Anesthesiology Leadership Council, and the Committee of Florida Agents, all of whom maxed out with $500 checks.  Overall, Sprowls’ contributions average $299.75 per donor. All but one of Zimmerman’s 10 second-quarter donors gave the maximum of $500.

Zimmermann was first elected in 2012. He was unopposed in the Democratic primary and beat incumbent Republican Peter Nehr by 4,536 votes (53%).
