In honor of Back to the Future Day, Museum of Fine Arts offers memberships at 1985 prices

We’ve all seen our Facebook feeds blowing up with pictures of Marty McFly and his super awesome DeLorean in honor of Back to the Future Day. The internet is celebrating with GIFs and memes aplenty.

The reason? In one scene, the clock showing where in the future McFly had landed displayed October 21, 2015. Today! Yippee!

Even though the internet can make a silly day into a lot of fun time-wasting click bait, it’s St. Pete’s Museum of Fine Art who seems to be really creating a worth-while celebration of the day.

The Beach Drive museum is offering annual memberships for just $20 for an individual or $40 for a family for today only. The hook here is – those are 1985 prices.

Good one MFA.

Individual prices are typically $60 with family pricing at $115. Needless to say, it’s a steal. To redeem use the code BACKTOTHEFUTURE for an individual membership or BACKTOTHEFUTURE2 for a family membership. That can be done online or by calling the museum.

In the meantime, let’s take a look at how 2015 failed Marty McFly.

There’s the obvious biggie – no flying cars or hoverboards. While a Tesla is super rad and way techy, it still doesn’t fly. Sorry ‘bout that Marty.

Then there’s the whole fruit dispenser thingy that was used to keep fruit fresher for longer. Also not a thing.

Self-tying shoe laces? Nope.

Teensie weensie pizzas rehydrated into the full-sized real deal? Not a thing.

Mind-powered video games? Still gotta pick up that remote Marty.

There are probably a bunch more, but you get the point. If Marty McFly came rolling up into the real 2015, he’d probably wonder who dropped the ball on robotic dog walkers and instant-identification.
