The Florida Department of Transportation has met or exceeded 16 of 17 benchmarks set by the Florida Transportation Commission for fiscal year 2014-2015.
The FTC’s Performance and Production Review found that FDOT was successful in the number of contracts that were executed compared to the number that were just planned. The state transportation agency also maintained the required number of lane miles on the State Highway System with a pavement condition of either excellent or good.
The review also found that FDOT’s bridge structures had a condition rating of excellent or good.
“The FTC report affirms that the Florida Department of Transportation is providing a statewide transportation system that continues to be innovative in its approach, efficient in its use of taxpayer dollars and exceptional in its execution,” FDOT Secretary Jim Boxold said. “I appreciate this annual independent review of the department’s performance.”
The Florida Transportation Commission aims to provide leadership in meeting Florida’s transportation needs. They accomplish that goal through providing guidance on statewide transportation issues and by providing oversight and public accountability for FDOT and other transportation agencies.
“Governor [Rick] Scott has focused on job creation across Florida and transportation investments are a direct impact on growing our economy,” said Florida Transportation Commission chair Jay Trumbull. “I congratulate Secretary Boxold and the Florida Department of Transportation on its ability to consistently meet the capacity and mobility needs of its people, businesses and visitors while investing its budgeted dollars efficiently and effectively. FDOT gets an ‘A’ on its report card.”
