Republican newcomer Evelio “EJ” Otero will face Democratic incumbent Kathy Castor for Congressional District 14 after defeating GOP opponent Eddie Adams in the party primary, reports the News Service of Florida. Otero captured 60.4 percent of the vote with all precincts counted in the district straddling Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties. Castor, first elected in 2006, faced no opposition in the newly drawn district that encompassed most of the former Congressional District 11.
