Pennington P.A. announced today the addition of Michael P. Harrell and Marnie L. George to the firm’s governmental and legislative affairs team. Harrell has been named senior government affairs consultant and George has been named government affairs consultant.
Harrell brings his extensive experience lobbying the Florida legislative and executive branches on a wide range of business and regulatory issues including a significant governmental procurement practice.
Prior to joining Pennington, Harrell was with Foley & Lardner LLP where he headed up the Florida Public Affairs Practice Group for seven years. Previously he was the managing partner of Capitol Resources Florida, LLC and founder and president of The Harrell Group, LLC, a multi-faceted governmental relations firm specializing in executive and legislative affairs, as well as procurement consulting.
Before starting his own firm, Harrell worked as a government relations specialist for the multi-national law firm of Steel Hector & Davis, where he first began building his extensive list of corporate clients.
George has been named government affairs consultant, bringing more than 25 years of experience to the table. Her experience includes lobbying the Florida legislature, state agencies, the Florida cabinet and executive branch on behalf of state and national organizations.
George has vast experience working with the legislative process. She enjoys an outstanding reputation for honesty and integrity and has developed many bipartisan relationships with staff and elected officials on numerous issues.
Prior to joining the practice, George most recently served as founder of The George Group–-a public affairs consulting firm representing state and national clients, including AAA Auto Club South, a three-million-member organization in Florida, the National Safety Council, Ford Motor Company, Habitat for Humanity of Florida and the Florida Chapter of the American College of Cardiology. During this time, George received national recognition for her years of work on safety legislation and awareness, earning the State Highway Safety Champion Award for Florida–-from the Advocates for Highway and Auto Safety.
She also previously served as legislative affairs director for the Department of Business and Professional Regulation and started the agency’s public information office serving as agency spokesperson while heading up the legislative office.
