So I was wrong. Former state representative Janet Long did not announce at the Kennedy King Dinner on Saturday that she was running for the County Commission against Neil Brickfield.
Yet, by all accounts, she is still planning on running. What gives? After all, her possible tag-team partner on the campaign trail — Charlie Justice — announced last week that he would challenge Nancy Bostock.
Now that Charlie has taken the plunge, why hasn’t Janet? Aren’t they suppose to be the Democrats’ dynamic duo?
Maybe Janet Long is chickening out of running for the County Commission.
Now, I know it’s not fair to say Janet is chickening out of something she never said she was doing, but she has spent the last year plucking about how awful EVERYTHING is and she’s been given the green-light by her bosses at St. Petersburg College to run, so why isn’t she already on the campaign trail?
I can understand Janet having second thoughts about challenging Brickfield; he is, after all, not Norm Roche and that’s really who Democrats want to run against. Unfortunately for the local D’s, only Bostock and Brickfield are on the ballot in 2012.
Bostock has her challenger. Where’s Brickfield’s?
