Long ago, I decided to (mostly) ignore landscaper-turned-videographer Javier Manjarres and his ridiculous blog The Shark Tank. However, a headline on his site this morning warrants attention, if only to reinforce the rationale for ignoring him.
“Walker’s Huge Recall Win Derails Efforts to Recall Rick Scott” blares across The Shark Tank today.
“The resounding Wisconsin recall election victory by Governor Scott Walker has ramifications here in Florida,” writes Manjarres, “as it will pretty much end any remaining hopes held by opponents of Florida Governor Rick Scott who wished to follow through on a recall effort against him.”
Javier, are you an idiot?
There is no recall effort against Rick Scott, nor has there ever been any recall effort effort against Rick Scott. Primarily, this is because there is no mechanism in the Florida Constitution to recall state elected officials. Currently, the only way to remove the governor or attorney or a legislator in Florida is through impeachment. (In 2011, a legislative proposal 2011 by Rep. Rick Kriseman to create a recall process didn’t even see the light of day.)
So for Manjarres to confuse opposition to Scott, as embodied by ‘Pink Slip Rick’ and other liberal organizations, with imaginary efforts to recall Scott demonstrates a complete lack of understanding about the basics about Florida government and politics.
Of course, that coming from Manjarres is hardly a surprise.
