After spending nearly $572,000 in the reporting period from Oct. 11-17, total expenditures for Republican state Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater’s re-election effort has reached $2.5 million, new finance reports show.
The majority of Atwater’s spending in the weeklong period was for what the report shows as “media placement.”
At the same time, Atwater added $128,208 for total fundraising of almost $3.1 million.
Updated finance report for William Rankin, Atwater’s Democratic opponent, are still pending as of Friday afternoon. Rankin’s total through Oct. 10 is $17,630.
Republican Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam spent $203,000 from Oct. 11-17, for a total campaign price tag of nearly $2.3 million. During the reporting period, Putnam raised $153,341 for a total of $3 million.
Thad Hamilton, Putnam’s Democratic challenger, took in only $22,028 through Oct. 10.
